What you need to know if you’re new to South River Yoga!
Where are you located?
4405 Meramec Bottom Road,Suite A. Specifically…in the same plaza as Bounce U and Jazzerice. We’re in the back right building and our doors on on the side between 2 flower pots. We share a space with the Center of Sound!
What should I bring to class?
Yourself and a positive attitude are the most important things. If you have your own yoga mat and yoga props (blocks, strap, blanket, and bolster for some classes), bring those too. If you don’t have any of those, you can borrow from us until you want to invest in your own. We prefer cork blocks, so if you have foam, compare them to cork and see what you like best!
What should I wear?
We don’t care! Whatever makes you feel comfortable and you can move around in. We don’t wear shoes in the yoga studio, so you can wear any shoes and you’ll take them off when you enter.
What should I NOT bring to class?
We prefer that you not bring phones into the yoga room. We have cubbies in the lobby where you can leave your phones and personal items if you don’t want to leave them in your car. We will lock the door during class if there will be no one attending the lobby.
Also leave behind judgement of yourself and others, comparison, loud voices, and the worries from outside the studio!
What class should I start with?
It depends on what you’re looking for! If you’re brand new to yoga and you’re looking for a more “movement” based class, we suggest starting with a “Beginner’s Yoga” or “Basics” class.
If you want to focus on stress relief and calming of the mind, we suggest one of our gentle, restorative classes.
See all our CLASS DESCRIPTIONS HERE! Each description will note if yoga experience is needed or not.
Are all your yoga teachers certified?
YES!! Education and experience if very important to us at South River Yoga. In order to have a regular class on our schedule, we require all of our teachers to have completed their 500 Hour Yoga Teaching Training. Plus, most of our teachers have training above and beyond that in various specialties or other healing modalities. Meet our Teaching Training Team here!
We do allow graduates of our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program to substitute classes so that they can start to get more teaching experience!
What our members say…
“South River Yoga is more than a yoga studio, it’s a community. It’s great for people just looking to work on their breathing and stretch a little-going to a class or two a week will lower your stress level and make you stronger. It’s also a great place when you’re looking for something deeper, being a real regular will help uplift your spirit and find peace.”~Jamie
